Musyimi Mbathi holds a PhD in Urban Planning and currently serving as the Chair for Municipality Board Chairs Caucus as well as the Board Chair - Kitui Municipality. He has worked as au Urban Planner with the Government of Kenya for over 10 years and the United Nations (UN-HABITAT) as a consultant in the Global Urban Observatory Unit.   He has urban planning experience in Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Somalia. He has carried out extensive work within informal settlements within sub-Sahara context supporting international and civil society organizations. Other areas of interest include Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, Environmental Impact Assessment, Urban and Regional Planning, Training and Capacity Building.
